Oumar comes from the Colobane district of Dakar, Senegal.
Oumar is a fantastic dancer, happy with both contemporary and traditional styles.
He has established himself as a respected artiste working with well known choreographers in
several Dakar ballets. His performance of the Thiakaba, a dance performed on stilts, has audiences
enthralled. This specialised dance is performed either on tall stilts on two legs, or on
slightly shorter stilts but one-legged!
Oumar also eats fire and this makes an exciting addition to his repertoire especially during
night performances. He is at present working hard to perfect his Koumpo and limbo dancing.
Oumar is an accomplished drummer and teacher too. As if he needed any more strings to his
bow, he is a skilled maker and repairer of drums and has appeared in several television films
in his home country.
